As a member in a SFERS miscellaneous plan, you have access to two benefit programs administered by the San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System (SFERS):

You are automatically enrolled as a member in the SFERS Miscellaneous Plan if you meet at least one of the following criteria:

* Employees working in a temporary/provisional position are eligible for SFERS membership after having earned 1,040 hours in any 12-month period. Prior to reaching 1,040 hours, you will receive a letter from SFERS informing you of the date you are eligible for retirement membership, along with instructions for completing the new member enrollment process.

Although you may be automatically enrolled in the SFERS pension plan, you will need to complete a new Member Enrollment Packet to complete the enrollment process.
