1099R Forms for Tax Year 2014 were mailed to all benefit recipients. You should have received your 1099R Tax Form for 2014 no later than January 31, 2015.
If you did not receive you 1099R Tax Form in the mail, now you can register and log into mySFERS to view and print a copy of your 1099R Tax Form online.
1099R Forms for Tax Year 2014 cover SFERS benefits paid to you between December 1, 2013 and November 30, 2014. The amounts reported on the 2014 1099R are the same as your year-to-date balances on the retirement allowance dated November 30, 2014. For general descriptions and definitions of all reporting boxes, please see the back of your 1099R Form. If you have trouble viewing or printing your 1099R Tax Form, you may contact our office at 415-487-7050 to request a duplicate tax form.
If you need to increase, decrease or stop tax withholding from your SFERS retirement allowance, download a SFERS Tax Withholding Form and mail or fax the completed form to the SFERS office. You may also contact our office at 415-487-7050 to request the form.
The deadline for processing changes to the retirement payroll is the 10th of the month in which the change is to occur. For example, if you want to change your withholding for the month of April, your request must be received in the SFERS Office by April 10th. Requests to change tax withholding received by the SFERS Office after the 10th of the month will be processed for the retirement allowance payable at the end of the following month.
