During the December 11, 2024, meeting, the SFERS Retirement Board approved a Supplemental Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for qualified retirees or their entitled beneficiaries.
Effective July 1, 2024, in accordance with Charter Sections §A8.526-3, retired members with hire dates before January 7, 2012, will receive the following adjustment:
- Miscellaneous and New Plan Safety Retirees: 0.50% based on the June 30, 2024, retirement allowance.
- Old Plan Safety Retirees: The amount will depend on any Basic COLAs granted between July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
In accordance with Charter Section §A8.526-4, no supplemental COLA will be paid to retired members hired on and after January 7, 2012, because the System is not fully funded.
