At the October 15, 2026 meeting, members of the Retirement Board elected Commissioner Scot Heldfond to serve as President and Commissioner Tim O’Connor to serve as Vice President. This election fills the remainder of the officer terms vacated by former President A.J. Thomas, who left City employment and resigned from the Retirement Board, and former Vice President Leonna Bridges, who sadly passed away unexpectedly.
Scott Heldfond is the Director at Aon Risk Services (a global insurance brokerage firm: NYSE:AON), and serves as an advisor to, or on the board of directors of, several local, statewide, and national charitable and community service organizations. Mayor London Breed appointed Commissioner Heldfond to the Retirement Board in 2019.
Tim O’Connor is a Lieutenant with the San Francisco Police Department, where he began his career in 2005. Coming from a San Francisco civil-service family spanning nearly a century, he is committed to representing both active and retired SFERS members. He earned a B.S. from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 2004. Commissioner O’Connor was elected to the Retirement Board in 2023.
