Miscellaneous Members

Miscellaneous members are eligible employees with the City and County of San Francisco, the San Francisco Unified School District, the San Francisco Community College District, or the San Francisco Trial Courts who are covered under the provisions for pension of the SFERS Miscellaneous plans.

Membership

As a member of a SFERS miscellaneous plan, you have access to two benefit programs:

Contributions

The SFERS Pension Plan is funded through employer contributions (paid by the City), member contributions (paid by you), and investment earnings.

Each pay period, mandatory retirement contributions are deducted from your paycheck to help with the cost of your retirement benefits. Contributions are deducted before taxes and are calculated as a percentage of your salary. This percentage is your “member contribution rate”.
